WING CHUN
Wing Chun is a Chinese form of close-range combat. According to legend, Wing Chun was created by a woman in order to defeat a larger man. Wing Chun uses small, precise forces to deflect powerful attacks. Wing Chun works by using practical, efficient movements.
OUR CLASS
Our style of Wing Chun emphasizes the skills that a smaller person needs to effectively defend against a larger, stronger person. We don’t teach students how to be stronger or faster. Instead, we work to minimize muscular tension and aggression, which are counter-productive.
We spend a lot of time on the basics. With the proper body positions and a solid foundation, we can stay relaxed under pressure, which helps us anticipate our opponents’ moves.
Beginners are welcome to every class and no experience is needed. We all train together and there are no belts or separate grade classes. Advanced students regularly work out with beginning students in partner drills and free-form sparring.
The class is relatively small and taught very casually, with the necessary information given freely, but learning this style requires practice and self-discipline.
